A regular meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was held today under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Head of Government of the country, Emomali Rahmon.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Director of the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan reported on the implementation of the State program of shore protection works for 2011-2015.

It was emphasized that in Tajikistan, having 93% of mountainous territory, there are 1250 rivers with a total length of 30 thousand km and most of them along with their benefits have also threats. Every year, in the spring and summer periods because of the rain, melting of snow and glaciers, we have floods and landslides, which cause great damage. To prevent flooding on riverbanks, 1386 kilometers of protective structures and 710 mudflow bypass channels were built and for their proper maintenance we require significant resources, because they are damaged annually due to severe natural disasters. It was also noted that in the basins of the Panj and Vakhsh, Zarafshan in average 70 floods happen annually.

President Emomali Rahmon gave concrete instructions to the responsible persons on the development of feasible plans to prevent the effects of mudslides, floods and other natural disasters.

Then the plan of admission of students in institutions of higher professional education was approved in  accordance with the quota of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2016-2020 and the State program on promotion of employment of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2016-2017.

According to the State Employment Programme of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2016-2017, during this  period in the country should be established and restored 302 thousand and 300 new jobs.

The draft Law "On insurance activity" was approved and submitted to the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli.

To the lower house of Parliament of the country were also presented a number of draft laws on making amendments and additions to a number of existing laws, including the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan" and the laws "On Public Service", "On the financial lease (leasing) "," On protection of public health" and the Family Code.

According to submitted amendments and additions to the Family Code citizens before marriage will have to undergo mandatory medical examination in the future.

In addition, the program of development of the Republic of Tajikistan on pasture during 2016-2020, the State Program on study and evaluation of rare metals for 2016-2026 and the program of socio-economic development of the city of Vahdat, Murghob district and Khuroson for 2016-2020 was approved.  At the end of the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon paid attention to issues related to summing up 2015 and determination of the main tasks for 2016, the completion of the autumn sowing, harvesting quality seeds for spring sowing, increasing planting early vegetables and put specific tasks before decision makers on strengthening works, elimination of existing problems and shortcomings.  In connection with the current situation in the region and the world, modern threats and challenges, including terrorism, extremism, religious prejudice and bigotry, in particular terrorist acts that took place in September current year in Tajikistan, it was stressed that each member of the Government, all state and public figures, every honest citizen must be constantly vigilant and actively contribute to the peace and the quiet life of the people.
