Participation and speech at the International Conference "The policy of neutrality: international cooperation for peace, security and development"

On December 12, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon attended and delivered speech at the International Conference "The policy of neutrality: international cooperation for peace, security and development" in the city of Ashgabat.

Before the start of the conference Emomali Rahmon and other heads of states attended the ceremony of laying wreaths to the Monument of Neutrality of Turkmenistan.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon as a sign of respect of good friendly relations between peoples of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan laid a wreath at the monument and paid tribute to the history and culture of the friendly country.

A wide-ranging Session of the International Conference - «The policy of neutrality: international cooperation for peace, security and development" was held in the administrative building of the Chamber of Commerce of Turkmenistan.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and other heads of state and delegations were met by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

After the meeting, the distinguished guests took part at general photographing ceremony with conference participants.

The Conference was opened by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who welcomed all participants, heads of state and heads of delegations.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has also delivered a speech at the conference.

In his speech, President Emomali Rahmon said that "positive neutrality path chosen by the Government of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen people in the most difficult period in the history of independence allowed to lay the foundation of today's improvements and changes in the friendly country in all areas of their life."

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon delivered speech about the international significance of neutrality and noted that its component parts, including commitment to a comprehensive partnership, the adoption of a positive world experience in solving global and regional problems were supported by the international community and regional partners, as evidenced by the statement of UN resolution on Turkmenistan's neutrality.

Regarding the position of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon stressed that the Central Asian region has all the resources and capacity to deal with any socio-economic and environmental problems, as well as an effective response to modern threats and challenges, providing a new level of development.

Implementation of regionally significant projects in the fields of energy, communications, transportation, communication, development of new technologies aimed at improving the capacity of the Central Asia, improving the welfare of our peoples, as well as on the development of the region.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon said that the most important issue today is our joint efforts to combat international terrorism, extremism, illegal drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.

"In this context, the cooperation with Turkmenistan, which has considerable resources, is particularly important and Tajikistan will make efforts to expand and strengthen it", - said the head of state Emomali Rahmon.

At the end of his speech, Emomali Rahmon has congratulated President of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen people on the occasion of neutrality and emphasized that "these objectives arising from the principle of neutrality of Turkmenistan are aimed not only at protecting national interests and multifaceted international contacts, but also on the priority issue of human development, and fully comply with them".

Thus, the General Session of the International Conference "The policy of neutrality: international cooperation for peace, security and development" has ended.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon after participating in the work of this conference returned from Ashgabat to his homeland on December 12.
