Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Emomali Rahmon met with the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

The meeting discussed the state and prospects of interstate relations between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

It was noted that Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are linked by common borders, the joint use of the river basin, and the necessary road and transport infrastructure, and there are favorable conditions and wide opportunities for further development and expansion of cooperation.

The cooperation of the two neighboring states within the framework of the regional project - CASA-1000 high-voltage power transmission line was assessed important and useful for the whole region.

The parties have expressed constructive ideas and proposals on improving the level of interstate relations in the spheres of economy and trade on the basis of intensifying the work of Intergovernmental Commission between the Republic of Tajikistan and Kyrgyz Republic on Trade and Economic Cooperation, as well as other commissions and subcommissions regulating bilateral relations.

The meeting also discussed issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in the spheres of road, transport, energy, rational use of water resources and border crossing points, as well as active participation in the implementation of major regional projects of railways and gas pipelines.

It was also paid necessary attention to the development and expansion of cooperation between neighboring states in the spheres of science, education and culture.

Another theme of substantive talks of the parties was the promotion of peace and stability in Afghanistan, relentless struggle against international terrorism and extremism, transnational organized crime and drug trafficking.
