Exchange of congratulatory messages between the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the President of Swiss Confederation Doris Leuthard

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Swiss Confederation Doris Leuthard exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Swiss Confederation.

Mr. Emomali Rahmon’s message reads, in part:

"Excellency,

I have the honor to extend my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Swiss Confederation.

It is gratifying that over these past years, interstate relations between our friendly countries formed on the basis of equality and mutual respect accommodating each other, which have characterized progresses along the same ascending line, and, now at the stage of further development.

Switzerland is our reliable and important partner in the international arena, and we are deeply grateful to its Government for continued support and assistance in strengthening the foundations of Tajikistan's state sovereignty.

The Tajik side believes that the steady development of its fruitful multifaceted cooperation with Switzerland meets the supreme state and its interests, and we are always ready to make the necessary efforts for its further strengthening at all levels.

Taking this joyful opportunity, I would like to wish Her Excellency good health, happiness and new achievements, and to the friendly people of Switzerland progress and prosperity. "

Ms. Doris Leuthard’s message reads, in part:

"Excellency,

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of official relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Swiss Confederation, I would like to convey my great appreciation for the longstanding friendship between our two peoples.

Besides the positive evolution of our bilateral relations over the past quarter of a century, we can also look back on successful cooperation in the framework of our constituency in the Bretton Woods institutions.

As landlocked mountainous countries with a generous water supply, Switzerland and Tajikistan both value the sustainable management of transboundary water flows for the benefit of all and the close cooperation our two countries have established in this area. Our joint commitment to the Blue Peace Central Asia initiative will hopefully contribute to fostering dialogue among all Central Asian countries on water-related issues and climate-related challenges.

In the spirit of friendship, I wish you and the Tajik people all the best for the future.
