Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó

On the sidelines of the High-level International Conference on “Countering Terrorism and Preventing Violent Extremism” the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó.

In the course of the conversation that took place in an atmosphere of friendship the two sides discussed a broad range of issues in bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Hungary.

President of the country Emomali Rahmon emphasized that “We are interested in developing cooperation between our countries both in a bilateral format and within regional and international organizations, including the United Nations, the European Union and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe."

During the meeting, the sides confirmed their readiness to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Hungary in all spheres being of mutual interest, in particular enhancing trade and economic ties, attraction of foreign investment, the implementation of joint small and medium-sized water supply projects in Tajikistan.

The establishment of cooperation in the spheres of metallurgy, engineering, telecommunications, aluminum production, textile products, building materials, minerals, precious stones, as well as chemical industry, agricultural products, including cotton, vegetables and fruits was called other perspective and priorities of bilateral relations.

In order to achieve common goals the two sides acknowledged that the establishment of the Tajikistani – Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation would be to the benefit of the two nations.

The conversation also included a substantive exchange of views on pressing issues, primarily joint struggle against the terrorist threats in the contemporary world.
