The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai.
The issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan have been reviewed at the meeting.
“We always support the position of friendly state in the margins of the international and regional organizations”, - stressed the Head of Tajik State Emomali Rahmon and expressed confidence that “Afghanistan will be granted the status of observer state in SCO”.
The heads of both states considered expedient the harmonized cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, as well as donor countries and organizations for effective realization of projects proposed during the Dushanbe RECCA-V Conference.
Emomali Rahmon and Hamid Karzai expressed satisfaction over the speedy increase of mutual trade turnover and transit opportunities between the two countries, as well as highlighted their interest in further development of fruitful ties, including through opening of new border check-points.
A constructive talk was also held regarding the expansion of legal-treaty basis of cooperation and strengthening integration between military and security structures of two states.
