Meeting with Vice President of International Finance Corporation Georgina Baker

The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Vice President of International Finance Corporation (IFC) Georgina Baker. The meeting took place in the Palace of the Nation on February 20.

The discussion covered the development of Tajik - IFC's cooperation. While discussing the bilateral agenda, President Rahmon rated IFC’s representative activities in Tajikistan as satisfactory and emphasized the country's interest in further developing the partnership.

The two sides also discussed issues concerning the financial sectors, trade and telecommunications, agribusiness and promoting investment and trade.

Both parties reaffirmed the importance of reforming the business registration system, licensing and inspections of economic entities.

National Development Strategy of Tajikistan up to the period of 2030 and the influence of external factors on the development of Tajikistan's economy were also touched upon.

Ensuring the development of the financial market, energy and industrial and agricultural sectors, funding of small and medium-sized enterprises, including in the agriculture sector in rural communities, as well as increasing access to finance for women entrepreneurs were identified as of vital importance.
