Today the President of the country Emomali Rahmon received the Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Commission on economic, trade, scientific and technical cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, Minister of Finance of Turkmenistan Davlatkeldi Sodiqov.

The issues of multidimensional cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan and activation of work of the Intergovernmental Commission on economic, trade, scientific and technical cooperation of both countries have been discussed at the talk.

It was stressed that the volume of trade turnover between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, which made up in 2011 only 194 million USD, does not answer the opportunities and resources of development of cooperation.

In this regard, it was expressed confidence that the work of joint commission and the upcoming official visit of the President of Tajikistan to Turkmenistan will give a serious impetus to this process.

It is expect that during this visit to Turkmenistan a number of new important documents will be signed between the two countries on the enhancement of interaction in different spheres.

An exchange of views was also held on the development of regional cooperation and assistance in revival of economy and tranquil life in neighboring Afghanistan.
