Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, had a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
During a friendly conversation, the heads of state, in continuation of their regular dialogue, considered certain aspects of the Tajik-Russian relations of friendship and interstate cooperation, as well as the prospects for their further development within the framework of a strategic partnership.
The parties exchanged views on topical international issues and some issues of regional cooperation, including ensuring regional security with an emphasis on the situation in Afghanistan.
The Presidents also discussed the schedule and agenda of upcoming multilateral events.
Agreements were reached to continue contacts on these issues, and the importance of further building up multifaceted cooperation between the parties was noted.
