Today, the President of the country Emomali Rahmon received the Director of IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department Masood Ahmed.
The issues of fruitful cooperation of Tajikistan with the International Monetary Fund have been reviewed at the meeting.
It was noted with satisfaction that despite the complicated situation with the world economy and negative impact of regional difficulties, the Joint Programme of Tajikistan and IMF has been successfully finished within the framework of extended credit mechanism.
At the same time, both sides have expressed interest in the development and adoption of a new programme and continuation of effective cooperation. It was highlighted that the cooperation of Tajikistan with IMF in macroeconomic, fiscal and monetary spheres, as well as the realization of foreseen structural transformations aimed at the sustainable development of the country’s economy in the period of increasing world and regional difficulties should be continued.
A constructive talk has also been held on the ways to ensure energy and food security of Tajikistan and to gradually improve well-being of the population, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
