Today, a solemn meeting devoted to the 20th anniversary of the XVI session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan has been held with the participation of the President of the country Emomali Rahmon in Kokhi Borbad complex of the capital.
President Emomali Rahmon during his substantial speech recalled about the severe first years of independence of Tajikistan, including the chaos of 1991 and 1992, fratricidal bloody civil war, death of more than 150 thousand citizens and destruction of separate areas of the republic, as well as stressed that it was the XVI Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan that has played a crucial role in further destiny of our state and nation, has created favorable bases for a young state’s overcoming of flame of destructive war and for reviving constitutional structure, stabilising political situation, ensuring the rule of law and socio-economic development of society.
As it was noted, “the world community has also supported the documents adopted at the XVI Session of the Supreme Council of Tajikistan and the good will of a new leadership of the state for reviving the constitutional order and creating democratic, legal and secular state”.
It was highlighted that the XVI Session of the Supreme Council of Tajikistan has laid an important impression in the mentality of every resident of Tajikistan, has urged the people of the country for constructive works, strengthened desires and will of the people for democratic state and organisation of peaceful life, has led to increase of confidence of citizens in peaceful and tranquil future, as well as in progress of the state.
In this regard, the Head of State Emomali Rahmon has expressed deep gratitude to all participants of historic session and every person who has contributed to its organisation and holding. Sincere thanks were also expressed to the UN, OSCE and all those organisations and state that have contributed to the revival of peace and stability in Tajikistan and have ensured stable development of society.
