This morning in the framework of official visit of the President of Austrian Republic to Tajikistan Heinz Fischer's tete-a-tete meeting with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and official top-level negotiations were held.
Consideration of issues related to friendly cooperation between the two countries began at the tete-a-tete meeting of heads of both states and continued during the official top-level talks with the participation of bilateral delegations.
The Head of Tajik State Emomali Rahmon stated: "We consider Austrian Republic among our important and reliable partners and we are interested in further development of constructive partnership with it in different socio-political and economic spheres.
Heinz Fischer expressed Austria's interest in the enhancement of wide-ranging cooperation in political and security spheres, economy and investment and culture with Tajikistan and evaluated the admission of our country to the World Trade Organization as "a good basis for expansion of beneficial ties".
Development of cooperation in the fundamental areas of economy and investment, including energy, light and food industries, agriculture, transport and communications, production of construction materials and others have been named among the prospective directions of relations between both countries.
Following the top-level meeting and talks 3 new documents for cooperation have been signed:
- Protocol to the Protocol of Convention between the Republic of Tajikistan and Austrian Republic on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of evasion from taxes on income and capital;
- Agreement on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan and Federal Chamber of Commerce of the Austrian Republic;
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Agency on Standardization, Metrology, Certification and Trade Inspection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and Institute for Standardization of Austrian Republic.
