Today, a trilateral meeting also took place between the presidents of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in Ashgabat.

The issues regarding the construction of railway linking Tajikistan and Turkmenistan through Afghanistan were the main topic of trilateral conversation.

It was noted with satisfaction that the issues related to investment of this project were coordinated in October 2012 according to Action Plan of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Programme (CAREC).

According to arrangements, the mentioned railway should be constructed before 2015.

Following the trilateral talks a Memorandum of Understanding on construction of this railway was signed between Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
