Today, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia Andrus Ansip.

The issues of political, economic, trade, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation have been reviewed at the meeting.

Both sides paid particular attention to the enhancement of economic, trade and investment cooperation, including with consideration of new opportunities for entering into the market of South Asia countries. The transit role of Estonia with its seaports has also been considered important.

The development of interaction in the areas of hydropower, mining, light and food industries, as well as agriculture and tourism was defined as promising.

Taking into account Tajikistan’s longest border with Afghanistan and its leading role in fight against threats of terrorism, extremism and illegal drug trafficking, much attention was focused on boosting multilateral coordinated efforts in this domain of cooperation.    

A constructive exchange of opinions was also held on the intensification of cooperation in the spheres of education, healthcare, science, technologies and culture.
