Meeting with representatives of jamaat community

Today, President Emomali Rahmon held a constructive meeting with numerous representatives of jamaat community on the relations between state and religion.

The meetings was attended by religious scientists and servants, representatives of different religious unions, leaders of relevant ministries and agencies, chairmen of regions, cities and districts, chairmen of jamaats and village boards, officials of social divisions of state authority bodies and other activists of this area of social life.

At the beginning of his speech head of state congratulated the audience and the whole people of the country on the eve of Ramadan month and edified them to behave and accomplish worthy deeds, abstain and fulfill other good and charitable acts.

It was stressed that the government of Tajikistan takes a lot of measures to meet the religious needs of Muslims and representatives of other confessions of the country. It was in particular mentioned about the establishment of Center for Islamic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, granting public status to Islamic Institute of Tajikistan, publication of the Saint Quran, books Saheh of Imam Bukhari, Musnad of Imam Azam, Kimiyoi Saodat (“Chemistry of Happiness”) of Imam Ghazzali and other measures. In comparison to conditions of Soviet epoch it was noted that the number of mosques has reached from 17 of that time to 4 thousand and the number of Hajjis has increased from 30 (on those years) to 200 thousand.

The opening of Cultural Ismailite Center in Dushanbe city and activities of 73 shrines of followers of this mazhab in the republic, as well as smooth activities of shrines of representatives of non-Islamic religions have been considered as an evidence of democratic, legal and secular civil society of Tajikistan and the source of toleration of Hanafi mazhab.
