The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has identified improving of living standards as one of the top priorities of the economic policy of the state.
To that end, last year a "Strategy for improving the welfare of the people of Tajikistan for 2013-2015" was adopted.
In April of this year, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan in his annual message to the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan requested the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to increase in the medium term funding for the social sectors from 12 to 16 percent of GDP and in the same period to increase wages of workers of the budget sector, pensions and scholarships from two and a half to three times. In particular, the first phase of this increase is to be implemented from September 1 this year.
So, today another decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated August 14, 2013, № 1493 "On measures to enhance the level of social protection of the population, an increase in the existing salaries of civil servants, employees of budgetary institutions and organizations, pensions and scholarships" has been signed.
In accordance with this decree the minimum wage in all sectors of the economy will be increased by 25 percent, and its size is fixed 250 Somoni from September 1, 2013.
That is, in all enterprises, organizations and institutions, regardless of ownership, from September 1 this year, monthly wages of workers should not be less than 250 Somoni.
