Meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General on Economic and Social Affairs Wu Hongbo

President Emomali Rahmon held another constructive meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General on Economic and Social Affairs Wu Hongbo.

During the meeting, along with issues of International High-Level Conference on Water Cooperation, the issues related to working out of agenda of International Development Session in 2015 have been reviewed. As it was noted, the issues to be determined in this session should be the continuation of MDGs, which were concretized for the first 15 years of the third millennium.

Wu Hongbo highly evaluated the world initiatives of Tajikistan in the area of water and energy, development of “green economy”, prevention of global warming and for fruitful implementation of MDGs, and expressed thanks to head of state Emomali Rahmon and people of the country for the next step, namely holding of International High-Level Conference on Water Cooperation in Dushanbe.

Wu Hongbo said that constructive and stable position of Tajikistan on addressing of problems related to water through cooperation and compromise should be supported and stated that “the best way to address disputable water issues is the regional cooperation”.
