Meeting with the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Gazprom” of Russian Federation Alexei Miller

Today, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Gazprom” of the Russian Federation Alexei Miller.

At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia in the field of oil, gas and combustible materials.

Particular attention was paid to the course of geological exploration and extraction of oil and gas in 4 fields of Tajikistan permitted for exploration by this major Russian company.

It was emphasized with satisfaction that drilling at the site Sariqamish of Shahrinav district reached 6450 meters and the work should reach the stage of studying oil and gas reserves in this promising field.

President Emomali Rahmon stressed that "geological prospecting works should be expanded also in the areas of East Shaambary, Rengan of Rudaki district and Sargazon of Danghara district".

Miller noted that "in the future, the company “Gazprom” intends to increase investment in geological exploration works in Tajikistan".

The application of Gazprom for a license to carry out work on other promising fields in Tajikistan was also considered.
