Today, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Director General of ADB Department of Central and Western Asia Klaus Gerhaeusser.
The issues of bilateral fruitful cooperation have been discussed at the meeting.
It was noted with satisfaction that over the years of cooperation of Tajikistan with the Asian Development Bank this bank has granted to our country more than 1 billion USD of preferential credits, grants and technical aid. Currently many other projects are being implemented at the amount of more than 650 million USD in the priority sectors determined by the Government of the country, first of all energy, transport and public finances.
Head of state Emomali Rahmon expressed thanks to the management of ADB for consistent support of economic development of Tajikistan, including for support of working out of project “Construction of railway between Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan”. It was expressed confidence that this bank will also take part in the financing of construction of Tajikistani section of the railway.
Constructive talk was also held on the bilateral cooperation programme for 2014-2016 being prepared by the two sides. It was stressed that priority should be given in this programme to improvement of network of transport roads, energy security, construction of manufacturing capacities and power transmission lines, as well as development of private sector.
