The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has sent a condolences letter to the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai, which reads, in particular:

“Dear Mr President,

It is with great sadness that I found the news about the decease of the great politician of contemporary Afghanistan, first vice president of the country, marshal Muhammadqasim Fahim.

The deceased Fahimkhan was among the great personalities of the newest history of Afghanistan and in the forefront of struggle and resistance of heroic people of the country. The participation of the deceased in the process of revival of our neighboring country and his contribution in the cause of freedom were very active. He will remain in the minds of Tajikistanis as a genuine friend, contributor of strengthening strong ties of friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

In these moments of tragedy that the Afghan people have born such huge loss I would like you to accept deep condolences and sympathy on my behalf and on behalf of the friendly people of Tajikistan”.
