Today President Emomali Rahmon received the President of International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) Joseph Blatter.

The meeting reviewed the issues related to the development of football and ensuring popularity of sports in Tajikistan.

Joseph Blatter stated that the announcement of 2014 as the “Year of Popular Football” in Tajikistan deserves support and added that “participation in the ceremony of beginning of implementation of this initiative is among the purposes of his current visit” to Tajikistan.  

As it was noted, the attendance of football match of teams of “Istiqlol” of Dushanbe and “Ravshan” of Kulob for Super Cup of Tajikistan and awarding of Super Cup to the victor team is among the goals of his visit to Dushanbe. Joseph Blatter will also take part in the ceremony of opening of artificial field of central stadium built with the help of FIFA.

Head of state Emomali Rahmon expressed gratitude to Joseph Blatter for consistent support of FIFA to the development of football in Tajikistan.
