Today, President Emomali Rahmon received the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal who arrived in Dushanbe for participation in the annual political consultations between Tajikistan and the United States of America.
The issues related to the development of good relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the areas of policy, region security, economy and trade, investment and science and technology have been discussed.
Much attention was paid to the issues of regional security, particularly to prospects of regional situation following the withdrawal of ISAF forces from Afghanistan.
Nisha Desai Biswal stressed the readiness of the United States to support border troops and other bodies of Tajikistan in fight against terrorism, extremism, illegal drug trafficking and other transnational crimes.
A constructive talk also took place on the enhancement of cooperation in the areas of water and energy, agriculture, environmental protection, education, health, protection of human rights and freedoms.
