Meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov

Today President Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

The issues of wide ranging cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia have been considered.

It was expressed satisfaction over the consistency of political dialogue between the two countries. It was in particular noted that this year along with working visit of President of Tajikistan to Sochi of Russia were held exchange of visits of speakers of parliamentary chambers to each other's countries, meeting of joint intergovernmental commission on economic and trade cooperation, business forum, Cultural days of Russia in Tajikistan and many other meetings at different levels. The programme of joint renovation of armed forces of Tajikistan was approved.

A constructive talk took place on the protection of labor migrants of Tajikistan in Russia and expansion of cooperation in spheres of education, culture, science and technology.

Much attention was also paid to issues of cooperation in the framework of SCO and CSTO, including on rendering technical aids to border troops of Tajikistan and strengthening of state frontier with Afghanistan.
