This evening, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
The sides addressed the issues related to strategic partnership between the two countries and the development of wide-ranging cooperation.
It was expressed confidence that the bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia will be fruitfully continued for strengthening of security and stability in the region of Central Asia and enhancing of protection of state frontier with Afghanistan. In this regards, it was expressed satisfaction over the adoption of Programme of modernization of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan implemented with the support of and in partnership with the Russian Federation.
Much attention was paid to boosting of economic, trade and investment cooperation, ratification of inter-governmental agreement on duty-free exportation of Russian oil products to Tajikistan and regulation of labor migration.
Both sides agreed that the issues related to permission for entry of citizens of Tajikistan deported from Russia should be revised. It is possible that the major part of them will get renewed permission of entry. Moreover, the problem of 400 Tajik students in Russia who have been deprived of entering the territory of this country should be eliminated.
It was expressed gratification over the successful cooperation in the areas of education, science, culture, and expansion of direct ties between the regions of Tajikistan and Russia.
An exchange of views also took place on issues of regional and world politics.
