Today in the afternoon the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmud Ahmadinejad, who has arrived in Dushanbe for participation in the International Nawruz celebrations and the Fifth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA-V).
The heads of two states congratulated each other and nations of Tajikistan and Iran on the commencement of world-famous Nawruz and announcement of this glorious holiday as an international day.
During the tete-a-tete meeting and official negotiations with participation of delegations both sides discussed the issues of bilateral and regional cooperation of the two countries, particularly in political, economic, trade, energy, industrial spheres, as well as in transportation, science and technology, innovation, agriculture, education and culture.
A constructive talk was held regarding the continuation of effective cooperation in construction of hydropower stations, power transmission lines, roads and bridges, linking energy and transport networks of both countries, acceleration of consideration of a project for construction of China-Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Iran railway and other regional projects.
During the meaningful talks both sides highlighted their firm interest in intensification of expansion of friendly relations and multidimensional cooperation.
