President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon sent to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a congratulatory message on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which reads, in part:
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is among the first countries to recognize our young state’s independence at the outset of creation of the newest Tajikistan.
Tajikistan notes with satisfaction that a new stage of practical constructive relations has begun in economic cooperation between the two countries in recent years. A clear example of successful relations between Tajikistan and Iran, which have acquired the high level today, is the acceleration of our cooperation in spheres of energy, construction of transport infrastructures, transportation, agriculture and processing of its products, production of construction materials, and creation of joint industrial enterprises.
We consider continuous strengthening and development of multilevel mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran, which is based on the eternal background of common language, culture and historic traditions of friendship and brotherhood of the peoples of both countries, to meet the supreme interests of the two sides and we look optimistically at its prospects.
I am firmly convinced that due to our joint efforts, on the basis of 20-year achievements, we can further continue advantageous partnership of our countries and elevate really brotherly relations between our peoples to the highest levels.
